Approximately 1,500 people dressed in white gathered at the Las Labradas archeological site in the municipality of San Ignacio yesterday to celebrate the Spring Equinox.
One by one celebrants formed a spiral on the beach to receive the harmony of the sun and ask the cosmos to allow them to be in harmony with all living things.
At 12 noon, the attendees left the spiral to form a line in front of the sea to receive the sun’s energy.
The Dance of the Deer was one of five dances programmed for the day, along with Mayan songs and an exhibition of the prehispanic Ulama ball game.
