International Tourism up 11.7% During First Two Months

México’s Ministry of Tourism said that based on the figures from the Integrated Migration Operations (INM) in the first two months of this year 2.4 million international passengers arrived in the country, which represented a growth of 11.7 percent when compared to the same period of 2013. The United States, Canada and United Kingdom, produced the largest number of international tourists.
The Ministry of Tourism noted, however, that tourists from emerging countries is also growing, pointing out that tourists from Venezuela increased 40 percent.
Tourists from the United States during the first two months of the year amounted to 1.201 million, an increase of 14.7 percent, compared to the first two months of 2013. Similarly, INM figures revealed that the number of tourists from Canada, increased by 7.8 percent, while the number of tourists from the United Kingdom increased 6.2 percent.
Other significant increases included China with the number of visitors to México up 38.8 percent; Colombia up 21.1 percent; Peru up 10 percent and Russia up 4.4 percent.
