Alaska Airlines Adds New Flights to Mazatlán

Alaska Airlines Vacation vice-president, Don Ritter, announced at the 2014 Tianguis Turístico presently being held in Cancún that beginning in October this year they will add a flight from Los Angeles to Mazatlán, while for November they are considering daily flights to the port during the peak tourism season.
Additionally, the Secretary of Tourism for Sinaloa reported in its press release that Alaska has plans to increase weekly flights from three to six, saying the airline representative acknowledged the work done by authorities to provide a secure destination for tourists.
Larry Chester, president of the charter airline Sun Country Vacations, said included in his company’s plans for 2014 is an increase in the capacity of airplanes flying to Mazatlán from Minneapolis and a focus on increasing flights from Dallas, Texas.
Sunwing charter airline vice-president, Lawrence R. Elliot, pointed out that many tourists from Canada are baseball fans, particularly those from Toronto who support the Bluejays team. With that in mind, the Canadian charter plans to promote packages that include Venado AAA baseball games and cultural events.
The matter of security is not an issue for Canadians from Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Winnipeg, he said, as they have confidence in Mazatlán. (from Noroeste)
